bonsai gurus: chime in on my oaks

deep___roots

Quercus agrifolia from acorns. Well, these are pretty much out of control since bonsai isn't really my priority. I have root pruned them once. These are in one gallons but there is only about 3 or 4 inches of soil in the pots. Some have a height of 2 feet. Nice trunks, eh.

So I'm thinking I root prune again in Spring and cut down the foliage.

Any pointers or thoughts? I apologize for my bad bonsai habits and neglect but these have some nice trunks (some multiple) and branching and I did mean to bonsai them but they got away from me. Thanks for any tips.
