hi there

hope someone can help. i got a chinese at the begining of december and it was fine, new growth kept coming through. i haven't changed the way i have cared for it but now it only has about 5 leaves left on and there is some small stubby green growth coming through. The question i want to ask is, is my bonsai dying or is it perfectly normal for this time of year?? if it's not normal i would really appreciate any help and advice anyone could give me to get it back on track.

What would help is an idea of what you're doing - when and how you water, based on what criteria? Where is it kept in terms of temperature, humidity and light? Is there a layer of pebbles glued to the surface? With nothing to go by, it's hard to help.

January is mid summer in SA. I assume it's mid winter there? Ulmus are deciduos, and should be dormant in winter
