| Hey everybody! I'm new to bonsai (started this summer) and I have two Chinese Sweet Plums in 4 inch nursery pots that are thriving under lights indoors plus being in a south facing window. They even seem to be okay with the humidity although I'm sure they will love being outdoors come spring as I'm in S.GA and well, it's a sauna out there!
Anyway, I keep reading conflicting info about about dormancy. Some say they require 55 to 60 for 2 months starting at the winter solstice or they'll be stressed. Others say that no dormancy is required indoors. I'm late to be doing it now, but should I put them in a cool room with less light till spring or not mess with a good thing and leave them as is? Also, they really need to come out of their containers into larger training pots. Do I need to wait till summer to do that? Any advice appreciated. Thanks! |

| Way too late to start dormancy even for outdoor trees. You might have cut back on water from about Oct. through early Jan., to give them a rest, but now is not the time. Repot in about a month or so. |
