| Hello.
This cute little bonsai was given to me as a present. I keep it near a window (with blinds) and water it with a spray bottle daily. I can't just pour water on it because it just rolls off the grass at the bottom. Despite my best efforts to care for it, some of the grass has gotten brown and some of the leaves have started to fall. Can anyone please tell me what type of bonsai this is and how I should care for it? Thank you! (Sorry for the low-quality picture)

| The 'grass' is moss, just laid on and should have been removed at the beginning. The plant is starved for water if it's still alive at all. It should also be in full sun all day, not behind blinds. And the humidity should be kept high, but not by spraying it occasionally. Plus the pot should not be sitting in drain water as roots can rot, so it would be best to have a wider tray of pebbles underneath, keeping the pot from ever touching the water in the tray... it's more effective that spraying. |

| Not a clear picture, but could it be an Azalea? |

| Maybe even an Olive? Of course, the sparse leaves could give a false read... Better pic...? |

| Here is a sharper picture. The lighting in my bedroom isn't ideal.
So I should remove the moss and just water it normally? How much should I water it and how often? Do I not use the spray bottle altogether? |

| Remove the moss! Get it into a lot more light all day long. Water when more of the mix is dry than otherwise and then find a local club to help you repot into faster draining grit rather than 'soil'. |

| I'm 99% sure that is a pyracanthas. Probably a single cutting from a larger plant. They can certainly make fine bonsai. I have some as informal uprights, windswept, and cascade styles. |
