| A few monthes ago I was able to buy some barerooted prunus serrulatas (kwanzan, mt. fuji) at the local Lowe's. The plants are grafted low and are about 3-4 feet tall. However, I only got 2 flowers on each plant. Now they are starting to leaf out, so I assume that they will no longer bloom this year. Could anyone tell me why these plants are just leafing w/o flowering? and do you think with the proper care this year I would be able to get more blooms next year? |

| They MAY have been pruned prior to your getting them, along with this year's crop of buds (to strengthen them and help them grow larger), but you should have better luck next year unless they're genetically sparse flower-ers. |
