| I bought this as a Cham. Obtusa "Morei" at a local greenhouse. It is very healthy ( so far). What is the common name and can I get it to not grow straight up? I am very new at this and appreciate any help I can get. |

| Common name is Hinoki Cypress, also called Hinoki False Cypress. With judicious pruning and wiring, you can control the upright growth quite well. I have not worked with this genus in particular, but there are many here who have. I'm sure they'll pop in to offer pointers. Many will suggest that you join a local bonsai society.

| Thank you. I have found a Bonsai club here in Edmonton and hope to join it when the weather stays better. Never know when a snowstorm will hit and as I live out of the city I will join in the spring. Hate to join and then promptly miss meetings. |
