when i was 12 my dad bought me a bonsai from costco that was in good shape, pot, gravely soil, and moss on the soil to keep it moist and it had wiring on it.anyway after having it for a while about 3 months it started to grow figs on it,what i thought to be tiny pears at the time.they were only about 7cm long.do you know what type of tree this was or if it was figs.i cant really remember the foliage but i thing it was oval dark green and glossy slightly.
thanks

Well I imagine it must have been a (Ficus) FIG tree, no? What other kind of tree do you think it was that was growing figs?

Not all Ficus (fig) trees produce noticeable fruit. The most obvious 'figs' are on a Ficus carica, the tree used in commercial production, but there are others that do have some version of fruit, including the Port Jackson fig.

all focus will produce fruit, im not sure what the triggers are for the different species. I know my Ficus Burt Davyi will make small figs once a year, but i usually pick them off so that the tree doesnt waste energy making them.
