Newbie-Hope i didn't make a mistake!

I just bought a "bonsai" plant from Walmart, and i read several posts here already so I realize I have to somehow get the rocks off the surface. My question is how should I repot it and when? There are roots coming out of the drainage holes, so I know it is probably root bound. Is it okay to repot it this time of year? Also, any other basic advice would be appreciated!

Well, hi, I'll get the ball rolling. Everyone's going to want to know what kind of plant it is. A picture would be best; but a good description will do. The folks here are sharp with the identifications. You'll get lots of advice.

Pry off the rocks that will come easily, without disturbing the plant's roots. Take what you can, a little at a time.

It's a ginseng ficus, it didn't specifically state that but I identified it with some pictures online. I already got the rocks off, that wasn't too bad. So when is the best time to repot it? Should I wait until spring?

Tropicals (indoors) can be repotted any time, though you might want to wait a few wks for it to recover from its move.
