That may be a succulent; try posting to the cacti & succulents page as well. Sorry I can't ID right off.

It is definitely a succulent, whatever else it is, so don't water it til it's quite dry and leaves just start to look a bit tired. Do give it every scrap of strong light you have as many hours as possible each day. In about 6 wks you can water it properly from above (vs immersion) and then again every month through August, then every 6 wks til Nov. and not again til late Jan., then 6 wks til monthly again next spring/summer. If you pull it carefully out of the pot and the roots look to be too much for the pot, get a slightly (not hugely) larger one and fill in around the edges. I don't think you should try to bonsai it, it's really more of a house plant. If you want to get into bonsai, start off by reading (before spending) at places like www.bonsai4me.com and others, as well as books, and try to find a local club to join as they're the best places to learn.

Try looking up desart rose.i think that is what you have.they have nice flowers. john

That plant is Adenium obesum... commonly known as the 'Impala Lily'...
