I planted a colossal number of live oak acorns in many diffrent starter pots. I took care of these by leaving them exposed to the air and burried some of them just below the surface of the soil(accomodating several techniques). The soil i used was seeding soil. Wrong choice i get it now. I spritzed with water when the top soil got dry and maintained this ritual for a month. Was i suprised to find out why they had not germinated. I fot fed up and pulled one. I squeesed to crack the shell and it exploded like a water baloon with a wad of peanutbutter inside. I tested every one looking for one that had not gotten water logged. 35 acorns and a lot of water and acorn butter later i was saddened by the loss but realized that although they dont look the part those little vastards suck up every drop of water that touches them and if you dont steiffel it they will turn into their own private swimming pools :'-(
