I pulled a water oak out of the wild. It was a tiny sapling straight stem and 4 leaves. Whe i pulled it it was attatched to a larger piece of rotting root but in great health. I dipped the end in a rooting hormone and planted in seeding soil. There were no feeder roots. The stalk is still green however the leaves have since become crispy and are beginning to turn white. Is it normal for transplanted saplings to shed all their leaves before rooting or have i killed it?
