Confused new bonsai owner

Today I received a bonsai as a Valentine's Day gift, and although it is really quite a beautiful little juniper I am concerned. I live in an apartment and there is no way for me to store this in a cool place over the winter. Indeed, since we're having such a horrific cold snap in the midwest right now(today was a sunny day and it was still -2F) I can't store it in my friend's garage. What should I do?

I should probably clarify. I am a college student. In the summers I live in a house. I could probably arrange to put this tiny tree in my parent's garage, but its been so incredibly cold lately that I'm not sure this is a good idea.

Perhaps this is a bad idea...but could I put it in my fridge, if just temporarily?

where was the tree bought? this is important because if it was kept indoors you should not put it outside in this cold. it will shock the plant and kill it for sure. Find the coolest window in your apartment and place the tree there. Water only when the soil is almost dry. remove any glued on rocks if there. then cross your finger and hope for the best till spring. if it was outdoors when it was bought(very unlikely) get an oversized pot and bury the tree up to the trunk in mulch and let nature do the rest

It was actually sent through the mail from ProFlowers.com . It looks pretty healthy, no glued on rocks, well drained soil, no obvious signs of distress. It was a tiny bit yellow when I pulled it out of all those styrofoam peanuts but it looks better now. And its soooo tiny!

Thanks for your help. :D
