Black Birch

Spring is in the air, I've been really getting the itch to do a forest setting on a stone slab. I seen a picture of one done with black birch and it kinda sold me. Black birch is quite indigenous to the reagon that I live. Also Black Birch has a long history with coal miners and indians. This is the tree that smell of wintergreen when a branch is broken. The twigs are sweet to the taste. The Cambium contains low doses of NSAIDS. I guess indians used to make tea out of it.
Ok history lesson over, I am starting to mark the small saplings in my local woods that I want to take. Has anyone ever made a bonsai out of Black or While birch?
