Potted tangerine

I have a potted (large pot) tangerine tree that is now full of blossoms. This is the second year of production. My question is whether I need to think about cutting back the roots after this season. I have kept this tree pruned and its about four feet high. I have done root pruning on some of my bonsai but have never worked on a large specimen.

Should I prune the roots? If I need to, when can this be done? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

RE: Potted tangerine

You didn't say how long the trees roots have been cultivated in the one pot and when the last time the roots were worked on. Either or all Tropical trees actually do best with a mid summer repotting this timing is best since the tree is in a full on growth cycle and this will help it recover quicker. Also try not to remove more than 1/3 of the root system in a single repotting.
