I'm having a hard time finding any starter trees or plants smaller than a 2 gallon around town and want to know where everyone finds them. I dont want to have to start hardwood cuttings or softwood cuttings or trees from seed for everything. Do you have a website that you order from? The only thing I find is juniper and I have a few already. Thanks for your help! Mzkrista

Where at in zone 5 are you? My guess, wait till spring and Im sure every one will be getting in the new plants for the spring plantings. Another option, head south, find an online nursery that is in florida, texas or a warm climate and see what they have in stock. A local nursery for me is http://www.wigertsbonsai.com/, he has alot of starters in one gallon pots of a huge varity. I think the number is on the web site. You will have to call to find out his current stock. (I have no ownership or finical gain in wigertsbonsai, its just local for me and I have bought 1/2 my plants from them. Good plants.)

I'm not sure were your located, but I've seen bonsai at local nurseries (Navlet's where I am) and I've even seen them at home depot and lowes. Not that I'm telling you to buy one there, but at least you have some choices now. Call around at your local nurseries and I'm sure you'll find something. Happy Hunting!!

I'm zone 5b in Cleveland. I checked around and no one has any small starter pots smaller than 2 gallons. I guess its too early for nurserys to get in the smaller pots. I did find one nursery that said that they get in pre-bonsai starters in a week and a 1/2. I'll check them out then. I wanted to start something now so by spring I'll have some bonsai already started. I wanted to find a red japanese maple to start. I dont want a bonsai already made up. I wanted to design myself.
