Need help with my dwarf jade

I have a plant that I aquired at my job because one of my coworkers left it when she quit her job. I was the only one watering it so the person that gave it to her said I could have it.

Dwarf jade bonsai

I didn't know until today what type of bonsai it was, which was a dwarf jade. I now know that I have been watering it a litte too much, but it does have sufficient drainage and I never over water the plant. Given the picture, my question is how should I prune this plant? It has gotten completely out of control and I knew nothing about dwarf jades until today. I love this plant and I would like to take special care of it. When she received this plant it was in the shape of an orb, which you can somewhat see in the picture. Any suggestions, comments, or help would be appreciated. Thank you

-Robyn

Also if needed, I can take close ups of the tree to give an idea how it's growing inside.

Simply clip the rogue branches back. If you enjoyed the "orb" then trim it back into an orb. :)
You can stick the cuttings into some soil, they should root in about 3 weeks.

If you can take a picture from close up showing major branch structure, then maybe we can help you decide which to keep (apart from foliage trimming) for a more interesting design than the 'lollipop' look, but if not, maybe you could sketch them and post it.

Thanks for the help guys. when cutting the rouge branches the nodes are spaced about 1" apart. how close to the node should I cut? I know it'll die and fall off, but I dont want to rot the plant.

This plant is properly called Portulacaria afra, or Elephant's Food Bush.
It is not a Jade (Crassula ovata), though it is often marketed under the name.
