Japanese Maple on Porch?

I'm considering a deciduous tree for my collection. However, my outdoor space is limited to a SW facing roofed porch with open sides. Will any of the Japanese Maples do? The light is perfect for my Satsuki azaleas. If so, would I need a humidity tray like some of my other bonsai during the hottest days? Also, is it better to look for an ungrafted tree or choose a grafted one and hope the graft line doesn't worsen? Thanks.
