| Hello all!
I was walking around the house recently and noticed the lovely, pleasing trunk texture on my mom's buddleia. With my newfound obsession with bonsai, I immediately began thinking - or maybe plotting - how awesome it would look as a bonsai. The minty-green foliage really compliments the color of the bark, and the flowers of course are beautiful. So I took some hardwood cuttings out of sheer excitement. Here are some pics of the 2 cuttings:
I was a bit worried because today I noticed some shriveling curling leaves on the cuttings. My mom advised me that I had left too much foliage on there so I removed almost half from both cuttings. I can post the new pictures if anyone would like to see. Does anyone have any experience with these trees as bonsai? Or any advice for keeping my cuttings alive and well? Thank you! |

| You can try it, but they're generally not used because they have a bad habit of dropping branches for no good reason, and it's hard trying to keep a bonsai looking good in anything but a broom style when that happens! |

| Well I think I will be ok with any style! It's my first cutting. I have heard extremely varied responses regarding this endeavor. Some have said it is a great idea and that they already have these trees well on thier way, others have said it's very difficult...I suppose there is only one way to find out! |
