Planting a Japanese Maples that is not dormant?

I bought back in January three Japanese maples, Acer Palmatum, and now they are still in the same buckets, but have a lot of leaves on them, still small (about 1 ft.) can I go ahead and plant them. The nursery told me Mid March to plant, but I got lazy.

Thanks!

Describe the intended location.

Can you provide some temporary shade if they are going to be in hot afternoon sun?

I think you can still plant such young trees, as long as you keep them watered.
