| When checking out (3) 6 year old potted juniper cuttings this morning I noticed a strange orange jell on the trunk and on some branches.
Does any one know what it could be? If it is dangerous for the trees what do I do to get rid of it and stop it from spreading to other plants? Paul |

| John Just saw a picture of it on the web and it looks like apple/cedar. The problem is there are no apple or crab apples in the area but their is a flowering quince but it doesn't look like the picture of the quince/cedar rust. I know it can travel for miles so it could still be caused by an apple tree of some kind. Is there an organic way to get rid of it or do I have to use a chemical fungicide? If a chemical is needed can you or any other bonsaist recommend a brand that they have used with good results????? Paul |

| I dont know of an organic fungicide, in the landscape you would prune off the gall like balls that form under the gell. Thats not an option on Bonsai! It wont kill them but its sure ugly. A few other trees are the other host including Hawthorn... I never had this on a potted plant --hopefully someone else has some experiance. Mike |

| The only other bonsai in training flowering trees are a cameo flowering quince, maybe an American hornbeam, and a flowering almond. There are flowering plums and Bradford pear trees in the area. The quince has a different type of fungus and I haven't heard that the other trees are part of the fungus cycle. |
