bonsai help!

Hi there-

I'm a beginner with bonsai's. My first bonsai is a Ficus. I've had it for nearly a year and it was doing very well. Recently, however, and rather suddenly, about half of the leaves on the tree began to droop and the branches became brittle. I keep reading through books and I assume this is because of watering. One even said it was because the plant has been 'severely neglected'. I feel like now I'm even watering it when it doesn't need it at all. And yesterday, it looks like another branch or so was turning the same way. I guess I'm just looking for suggestions before it's too late. I know books say many lose thier first bonsai, but it's altogether a little depressing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks so much...

Livvi
