It could have some kind of parasite - a picture would probably be helpful.

I hope you are keeping it outside. It will probably be happier there, at least for now. If you haven't, you will want to introduce it to the new environment very slowly so as not to shock it while it's in this already fragile state.

I don't know how Ficus deals with backbudding, but you may want to prune off the offending areas and just let it create new, healthy growth.

Overwatering will cause more problems than it will solve. Do not overcompensate - if anything, when the plant is sick, it will be able to take in less water. Just be attentive but not smothering. If you have to water it less, but more often, do that. Just make sure to check the moisture level in the soil often.

Kylezo - you can't keep Ficus outdoors where he lives! It must be nice to live in CA and not be aware of the rest of us popsicles :-). The rst of your advice is right on though.
