| Is securing a tree to a pot only useful for outdoors? as i have not wired my tree in any way.
Having repotted yesterday which was needed i have thought the tree might not survive the trauma its been through recently with moving and repotting, how quickly would it show signs of this as it still looks quite healthy? jimmy. |

| Jimmy, It's easier to answer questions when they are specific with species, age, etc. However, I wire every tree into every pot and have for years. It secures your tree and makes it stable. Roots serve three purposes: to anchor the tree, to store food, and to transport nutrients to the rest of the tree. In a bonsai pot, the first two are completely done away with because it is the biggest roots that do these things, and we remove those in favor of smaller ones. So we fertilize heavily and tie the trees in the pots to make up for that. Check out my website for some good repotting information. |

| But to be fair, there are a lot of people who don't wire in their 'indoor' trees and don't seem to suffer consequences, though BKC is usually right on about anything bonsai. |

| The storm in the northeast disturbed many of my outdoor trees last night but only those (3) that where not wired had real damage. The wind did as much damage as my grandchildren on the indoor trees. Wiring your trees is good advise that I will remember. Paul |
