What happened?!

I have a Chinese Elm, and throughout the winter it had no leaves. Around the begining of March new leaves were growing and it looked like it was doing well. Last week I put it outside on a warm day and an hour later when I went to check on it all tthe leaves were dry and wrinkled, when I touched one it turned to dust. What happened and what can I do??

Sunburn. You have to acclimate them to the outside sun slowly after they've been inside all winter. The leaves will likely come back, but the bark may burn if you leave it outside.

Thanks. Is there anything I can do to help the tree, the leaves still haven't come back and it's been a few weeks? Can it come back, or is it dead?
