| I recently purchased a young japanese larch to bonsai. I'm aiming for informal upright. It has some nice lower branches but towards the top the tree just straightens out. Is it ok to make a cut at about halfway up the tree? |

| hmm, too me this sounds a little drastic. having said that if you do cut the tree back to the trunk, you should get some new growth appearing...just have to think whether it will look good or not. |
