Pot up.

Make every effort to keep whatever roots are left on the plant from drying out. You should always plan ahead so you have everything you need at hand to speed the transition from the time you expose the roots until the time you get the plant into moist soil. Using a hose, spritzer, or tub of water can extend the working time from minutes to hours, but always work with preventing the roots from drying out in mind. It can happen in minutes on dry windy days. Work out of the sun and on humid, calm days if possible.

Thats what I thought. It's very rainy here in kansas and has been for about to weeks. So that should be no problem. I already potted the tree. So far so good!

I had another question! Would this be the time to shape a tree as well or should I wait?

Not if you just repotted it. Wait for it to recover before you do anything significant. In large part, it depends on the type and age of the plant material ..... and the tree's state of vitality is always the primary consideration in deciding what procedures are appropriate.
