Hi there,
I wanted to share my pictures on 2 seedlings that I collected from my garden. I think they are field maple seedlings.
With the broom style- I clipped off 4 leaves and some new ones have just come out. Not sure if I should clip off the new leaves when they are bigger to increase the branching. All the websites I've been to just says to cut the trunk off and let new branches grow. I haven't found any guidance really as to how to train a maple seedling into the broom shape.
With the literati style- well I just thought it was best suited to this seedling as there's a natural kink & lean in its trunk. From what I've read on the internet field maples are not supposed to be "literati" but it just looks so graceful as it is now.
Would love your input!
