can japanese maples handle direct sun this time of year (in pennsylvania)? i know it's the same sun as in august, and i know the maples will burn in direct sun at that time of year. are new shoots somehow able to handle direct sun better than more mature leaves? is it strictly a temperature thing?

thanks,

jim

Why do you ask - is there no light shade or filtered sun around to put them in?

Try morning and afternoon sun. Mine are growing like crazy even after an "out of season" repot.
