Japanese Maple Bonsai from Seeds?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to grow Japanese Maple (bonsai form) from seeds? Or if anyone knew where I could look it up...because I just bought some seeds and they came with about 3 lines of instruction on how to plant them...which was not very helpful to me.

There are several threads about growing japanese maples from seed at this site:

I think it depends on the type of seed. Generally, you need to put them into a refrigerator for a period of time to fool them into thinking it is winter, then you take them out and plant them and they think it is Spring. However, beyond that (timing, etc) it varies depending on where you live and what cultivar of maple you are working with.
