Hi, Here is my new pot from Japan. I want to plant a tree in it that is blue. What do you think? What style should the tree be? To give you a relative size I have a nickel directly next to it. Thanks, Gardener Guy

We usually pick a pot to suit a tree, not the other way around.

I know you USUALLY pick a pot to suit a tree. In this case my friend traveled to japan for school. Since I love bonsai I asked if he could get me a bonsai pot from Japan. He bought me this hand-made pot and brought it back. Now I want to plant the very best tree in it. This is why I am asking. I do not want the pot to sit around empty. Thanks, Gardener Guy

Hey GG nice pot. Cascade , semi cascade. As you know you should get the tree then the pot. Though I have a beautiful round vietnamese pot about 3 ft across that I'm still trying to find an about 8ft tall tree to put in it. So don't feel too bad.

May I suggest a ginkgo. I have several of them in the same type of pots. I start the trees from seed, and after three years in the same pot have a nice trunk size, and the tree height about 5-6 inches due to regular pruning of the tip. Lovely in the fall when the leaves turn golden and then all fall on the same day/night. Peace,

| Everyone, I decided to plant a Blue Rug Juniper. The branches that are not wired tend to droop. I cant help that because that's the nature of the plant. The non woody branches tend to droop. All in all the plant is healthy. Thanks to you all for your great advice. Here is the tree:

I have heard of Junipers dying of embarasement at being potted in a colorfull glazed pot. But this one is so small and the pot is nice, so maybe it will survive.
