Ficus Root Rot

Of course, just when I get it going, I see the tell-tale signs of the "rot". Yellowing leaves. So (this was about a week or two ago), I take it, my ficus benjamina, out of the pot, rinse off all the soil from the roots, snip off all the obviously infected roots, and put it back in the pot with new soil. I look at it again today, and it's roots are rotting again. I again take it out of it's pot, rinse off the soil, and snip off all the obviously infected roots plus some of the other healthy, little ones to avoid further spreading. But, now I have it sitting soiless. Should I put it back in the compact soil? (I plan to order bonsai soil http://cgi.ebay.com/Great-Bonsai-Soil-by-the-pound-Basic-Soil-mix_W0QQitemZ120549427427QQihZ002QQcategoryZ20524QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem from that site) Any suggestions help!
