| My Bonsai Club had trees displayed out for the local Garden & Nursery Show in the large City Park. There were a number of nice trees and the public was able to view and vote which one they liked best. I will find out the winner in about two weeks. I thought it would be fun to hold the same contest on this site. I will show pictures of trees an GW members can vote and comment on them. IMHO this would be educational fun for both experts and novices(of which I am one). Is anyone interested? |

| We're always interested in anything you have to say, but the winner is probably going to be based on the quality of the photograph, specifically, the one that best conveys perspective, which is always lacking when you can't stand in front of the trees. I'd be very surprised if our choice was the same as the one that rec'd the people's choice award. Al |

| Al, We will see what transpires. I am selecting 3 trees at a time because I don't believe I can show all pictures at once. Here goes. Fukien Tea (No.1)
Chinese Elm (No.2)
Green mound Juniper (No.3)
Pick your favorite and why. aloha |

| I'm definitely a novice, but I like number 2 the best. That knobby, gnarly trunk is great. It also looks the most natural to me. Dan |

Not sure what this is (No.9)
What is your favorite and why. Aloha |

| Tree No. 6, the Trident ROR. The roots on that one look incredible. It takes a lot of time and effort to get those roots just right. |

| Found out what No. 6 is. It is a Brazilian Rain tree. Aloha |

| No. 7. Best landscaping in the base to create a scene, best sense of scale, and best overall personality. Second place No. 3, also for good sense of scale and for the pleasing curved shape of the canopy. |

| As I promised, the winner, voted by over 700 people visiting the Bonsai displays over the festival weekend, was (drum roll please)..... No. 9 the Brazilian Raintree. I made a typo in my last comment. I voted for No.8 the Bald Cypress. Looked alot better in real life than in the picture. The vote for the Br. Raintree was twice over any other tree. 2nd was No. 3 the Boxwood. Thanks for participating. Aloha |
