What kind of mix is it in? Is it in the sun? How do you water it and when?

Larke,the soil mix is turface wood chips free draining. it is in the sun,it is raining here so i have not had to water that much so far.. trying to watch this one pretty close gift from my 2 girls.. any suggestions will be great. thanks john

The mix sounds great. They do like a little more water than e.g. pines, so as long as it's not in a dry area, it should be fine. In the country (NE) you'll find them growing mostly within a few hundred yards of water, whether marshes, or even little creeks. I love larches! BTW, you may find (eventually, if not yet) that they get lots of little round cones, but don't drop them every year at all, but may hang onto them for a long time - it's normal.
