Sick Barbados Cherry Bonsai

Hi, I received a Barbados Cherry Bonsai as a gift, but unfortunately, it looks a bit sick.

- Many of the leaves have a sticky residue on them and have holes (photo shows the holes).
- In addition, there is a white powder around the plant. You can see some of this on the soil in the photo.
- I do not see any bugs.
- There does appear to be new growth.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be and how to make the cherry better.

Thanks for your ideas!

Hard to say what the problem is from here, but you could try an insecticide like Safer's Soap Spray, though the problem may be at the roots as well... but give it a try and follow directions on the bottle.
