I have these tree seeds that I bought a long time ago. I'm not sure what they are except that i bought them because i saw their names in a bonsai book i rented a long time ago. I can't seem to get any of them to germinate and now i am lost as to what to do. The only other thing i can remember about them is that their instructions (which i lost) said something about putting them in the fridge. Can anyone help me get them started?

Too many variables, really... How long ago is "a long time ago"? Many seeds are only viable for a single season, or so. Other seeds need to germinate at a specific time during the season. Without knowing the species, there's not much to tell you. Can you take a pic of the seeds? Josh

really it depends on the type of seeds they are, as some can only last only about a year, and others for up to 3 or 4. You need to probably stratify them. You can search stratification on google and find lots of things. but basically let soak in water overnight. The next day put in a ziplock bag or a rubbermaid with sphagnum moss, vermiculite, or anything that can hold enough moisture to keep the seeds from drying and and wont easily mold. Place it in the lowest part of your refridgerator for 2 weeks, then move to uppermost part of the refridge for 2 weeks, the back down to the lowest part for another 2 weeks, (this had a temperature difference) then remove from fridge. After that you can sow in soil or depending on your meduim place directly in containers. Bottom heat and shade with moisture will help to germinate. you can leave in the bag inside with daily checkups and added water if needed till roots begin to emerge. This is where identification would come in as it could take anywhere from a week, to 3 months. So patients may be a virtue here. GL
