My First Bonsai-to-be ...

I've been interested in working on a bonsai and have been reading about them here on the forums and elsewhere for a few months now.

Last week, as I was wandering through a local big box store's plant section I saw this 10" tall Boxwood (Buxus sempervirens 'Green Velvet') with some really nice roots just above the soil's surface. And I thought to myself that it might make a really interesting bonsai in a few years.

I thought I'd share my progress and hopefully some of you will offer words of wisdom and advice for this newbie!

I took it home and bare rooted it and removed about half of the roots by trimming them. It was quite a tangled mess and it was evident that it had become root bound in a smaller pot earlier in it's life.

At that time I was thinking of giving it it's first foliar pruning but I need to study up on what to do.
