What kind of Japanese maple -- ID please

Hi all --

Saw this beautiful Japanese maple at the Biltmore Estate gardens in North Carolina last week, and thought something like this would look great in our yard (after 50 years or so!). Anyway, in my ignorance I didn't realize there were so many varieties until I got home and started researching, and should have taken a close-up photo of the leaves. They were small and thin, although I don't believe they were "weeping" like the laceleaf type. Not sure if the size of the leaf was a result of the heavy pruning, or if it is simply varietal. Brick red in color.

The tree itself is perhaps 7-8 feet tall, with a spread of fifteen feet. I realize this is a bit large to qualify as a "bonsai", but since Japanese maples are so often used for this I thought this Forum would be a good place to start.

See the link below for a list of some of the varieties I found -- holy cow. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Bruce C.
