Concerned About Pigeons

I am just getting into keeping bonsai, and will be acquiring a couple of junipers in the next day or two, which I'll be keeping on my balcony. One concern that has arisen for me is that pigeons might disturb or even destroy the trees. I live in NYC, and the pigeons here are a major nuisance. Has anyone had experience with this, and should I be concerned?

RE: Concerned About Pigeons

I wouldn't think you'd have an issue, so long as you're not feeding the pigeons. How do you suspect that pigeons will disturb them? Do they frequent your balcony? Where are they landing? I've had issues with various birds landing on my kids' swingset, and pooping on their swings. What I did was make some posts, out of a 4" long 1/4" bolt. I drilled & tapped the swingset so the bolts stood up, and ran fishing line between the 2, running parallel across the swingset top. Birds try & land on it and feel the fishing line, get confused, and go elsewhere. It's been working for a few years now, so if you have pigeons landing somewhere, try something similar.
