Hi people, i have a Sageretia Theezans that until the winter was doing great. It lost all it's leaves and after a month or so started trying to regrow but the leaves seem to dry out quickly and die. Think i'm watering about right and mist several times daily. Is situated in a sunny window in the kitchen.Have just introduced a humidity tray but have run out of idea's, any surgestions would be greatfully recieved, cheers in advance.

These can be a 'picky' and 'touchy' tree under most circumstances. They are both evergreen and semi-dicduous depending on growing conditions.

If you haven't done so by now I'd take a look at the roots. What you're describing sounds a lot like root rot and I'll guess that the drain holes in the pot (a 'malsai' tree?) are plugged. I'd re-pot by just slip-potting into something bigger in a well draining soil mix and see what happens after a while. If and when you do this look at the roots, trim away any that are soft and either black or dark brown. Water it well once, mist it once in a while and see what happens after a few weeks.

I suspect that, when you take it out of the pot, you'll find that it was sitting in water and not draining well or at all.

I'm having the same issue, and i don't know of its a nutrient deficiency, watering/humidity result, pest issue, or lighting issue.

Follow up: I watered my Sagaretia with a Neem flush and followed this with some feeding (Shultz plant food) and the leaf tips have stopped turning brown, so I can only think that a) there was some funglal growth that was killed by the Neem, or b) the plant was deficient in some nutrients.

Regardless I'm happy.
