Being in Florida means your options are WIDE open. Full sun evergreens like Junipers, Pines, Birches, Cypress etc all flourish in full sun.. just make sure if they are in truly full sun that you regularly check to water them..

In "mild shade" you can grow all kinds of tropical and deciduous trees (especially since it's so humid here... (maples, boxwood, fukien tea, chinese elm..)

The list goes on and on. I personally am fond of pines and junipers here in FLA... but, that's just a personal preference.
