Bonsai beginner in South West Fl?

| I am new to bonsai, but I'd like to give it a shot. I live in South West Florida, where we rarely, if ever, get frost. Which type of tree should I start out with that would do best outside in this warm, humid climate? |

| Being in Florida means your options are WIDE open. Full sun evergreens like Junipers, Pines, Birches, Cypress etc all flourish in full sun.. just make sure if they are in truly full sun that you regularly check to water them.. In "mild shade" you can grow all kinds of tropical and deciduous trees (especially since it's so humid here... (maples, boxwood, fukien tea, chinese elm..) The list goes on and on. I personally am fond of pines and junipers here in FLA... but, that's just a personal preference. Best of Luck. |
