| Today I found and took home a baby Acacia bonsai (about 4 1/2 inches tall) that the garden store had labeled Acacia—Scarlet Fairy Duster. It did come with a very brief care tag that has some basic information like: Sunny...water when just dry...mist daily...prune seldom...wire carefully. Does anyone have or know about this tree? |

| Care tags are generic - but one size doesn't fit all, so don't go by that. Acacias need to be watered only when more of the soil (than less) is dry, and if it looks droopy after you've made sure it's had a chance to dry out a bit (and not just the top layer) you can always give it some more. It will want a lot of sun - certainly you won't ever get too much where you are. I wouldn't bother about misting, but put the pot up on stones in a wide tray of water, just be sure it never touches the water, and that'll help humidity (which really isn't a big issue for that tree anyhow). |
