If the trunks are well-protected, leave the wire on until you're sure the trunks are 'set'. If you think they're biting into the bark before branches are set, remove them and rewire, wrapping the (same) wire in the opposite direction.

BTW - If I spy a wired branch with wire starting to bite, I don't remove the strand of wire entirely - only in the area where it is biting in and there is danger of scarring.

Thank you Al. I see your point about the whole thing. I can add pics of this tree just for fun. I really do like this tree even though it is an Ash. Hopefully in the future it will look great. I know the trunk line looks amazing since it has been wired. Now the next step is to focus on the branches once they start to grow in.
