When to transplant a Bonsai

Hi All----

I have another question. When should one transplant a tree into a bonsai pot? I got my Fukien Tea, but want to get her acclimated before I start transplanting. I also have a Serissa on the way, and I have read that they need to adjust first, which is fine.

I'd wait until your tree is actively growing again before you repot.

As to the Serissa, good luck, they are tough tough trees. They like to die if you look at them the wrong way.

Thank you so much. Yes, I have read about the Serissa:) We'll see. I've kept two kids, two dogs and four cats alive. We'll see if I can keep the Serissa alive too:):)

I have two kinds of Serissa - one variegated that seems to survive a lot better and the other is Kyoto that seems to be very sensitive to various changes. I keep making cuttings to be on safe side.

On another note back home in India Serissa is used as a low hedge and never seems to die even in 100+ temperature. Go figure.
