Hi, the first one is a Juniper procumbens nana, the second a Chinese elm (Ulmus parvifolia), and both are the all time most common trees in bonsai. Both need to live outdoors forever, especially where you live. The challenge will be keeping them cold enough for long enough in winter to go dormant and rest up for spring.

Outside would be my guess, especially the first one.

First one might be a cryptomeria, maybe a juniper. I don't know, I'm not very good at IDing. I'm quite new to bonsai.

Someone will know what these are.

Also, that moss (if that is moss) on the soil probably isn't necessary.

But both will acclimatize to local conditions (except indoors) and probably have because they were maybe grown in Florida? Even imports will adjust quickly unless you suddenly move north to say...North Dakota.

Josh is right about showing some soil, from what I see both are buried (as usual) up to the eyeballs in soil. Get the soil surface cleaned up and you should raise both of them until you find some surface roots radiating from the base. All trees need to breathe.

What you have is pre-bonsai stock. Both will thrive with a wet/dry cycle in watering but the Elm will tolerate wet soil much better. Just make sure that both pots drain well after you water them up--how--water them hard and watch what happens--if the water flows out the bottom of the pot after a hard watering it's ok--if it drains very slow or not at all you need to get them into a pot that does drain well or repot with a good soil mix that allows good drainage. The pro-nana likes well drained soil...always.
