Jabuticaba tree is dying! Help please.

I recently bought a Jabuticaba tree from a seller on Ebay. And the seller had told me that the leaves will fall off in the mail but they will grow back soon with water and good soil. It was no shock that the tree was bare and I quickly put it in some peat moss soil. I also put some fertilizer in it. I make sure that it gets atleast 30 minutes in partial sun outside and then quickly bring it inside. I try not to over water it but I still make sure that the soil is sort of moist. I am not sure what to do. I am going to be super disappointed if it's dead. The tree trunk is starting to get sort of black and I think that might be moisture? I am not sure. Please give me some tips. I don't want to see it die I invested money into it and it's my favorite tree. =/.
