Hello everybody. I am somewhat of a novice to the bonsai style of growing, but recently, a friend of a friend said that he trained pepper plants to grow as bonsai's. He gave me this site to check out. http://www.fatalii.net/growing/index.php?option=com_content&task=view& id=95&Itemid=105 I guess they call them Bonchi (bonsai Chile). But anyways, I was wondering if anybody has experimented with this and if you had any luck, or any cool pictures. Peace out all

Hey, what's up, welcome! I became intrigued by pepper bonsai from that same guide, which was posted here in a thread a while back. Anyhow, I've got some peppers in the ground right now, and I plan on wintering one of them and then containerizing it next year. In the garden, I planted six peppers. The largest I planted inside a black plastic pot with the bottom cut off. We'll see if this was a good idea or not...once it comes time to dig it up. If the roots aren't too deep, it should be a very easy transpot. My sister has a habañero in its second year, currently fruiting. She'll be pruning it back again this year, and potting it up next spring. Her plant is finally developing a woody stem....I envy her the year she has ahead of me! Ha! No real 'bonsai' images as of yet, but here are a couple progress pics of my plot: Please share your experiences, too! Josh

Hey, Yeah, I've got a bunch of peppers growing in my garden this year, mostly jalapeños, bananas, and a couple of random ones. But I came across that site and figured it would be fun to try anyways. so I think I'm just gonna pick the thickest healthiest pepper plant I have at the end of the season, trim it back and try training it into a bonsai. Hopefully it wont just die when I cut it back.
