This tree wont stand up...

I have a Rose Glow Barberry that I am ready to pot. Sadly, the shape of the tree is making it difficult to position in the pot the way I would like to. My wire is correctly run through both drain holes, still Im unable to stand the tree upright that way I'd like to. Im not trying to lean or tilt it, just erect it in the upright position. It has a natural angle about 3 inches from its root that keeps it from being stable, even with soil and wire for support. Is my pot just to shallow? Id really to to display as much of the trunk as I can...sadly it seems Im going to have to get a deeper pot, bury the root deeper, and bring soil up around the base for more stability more so than i originally planned. Any advice is sincerely appreciated.

Phil
