I haven't grown this tree, but because of its short internodes & fine foliage, it should work quite well, as long as there is nothing particularly quirky about it (like it dies if you look at its roots w/o closing 1 eye ..... or it doesn't like container culture).

If you're looking for just ANY cupressus to add to your collection, try Cupressus goveniana ssp. pygmaea (pygmy cypress, aka dwarf Mendocino cypress). It is a VERY good subject.

I don't think it is delicate in any way. I want to do the experiment because I have about 5, 3 or 4 foot high, in very small pots, so they don't seem to be resentful to small containers. They have been bone dry, soaked for a few days, and even peed by the dog, so they seem to be quite tough.
Anyone has tryed them as a bonsai?

Have you developed them as Bonsai? I'm starting Bonsai now and have many old ones that I'm considering to airlayer. What was experience like?
