new ginkgo

Hi All,

I just purchased a young Gingko biloba tree from the nursery and I have a few questions about how to style it.

It i about 50cm tall with a strong central stem and a number of branches radiating from the sides. I have read that "candle flame" is the best style for these. I have used plastic coated wire to pull the lateral branches in closer to the main stem to achieve a more upright look. There is a long sucker growing up from the root ball, should this be removed or should it be allowed to grow so that it resembles a large tree with a smaller one beside it? I know bonsai is an art and its brobably hard to comment without seeing the plant but does that sound ok or is a single trunk more attractive?

Its almost spring, when would be the best time to prune? After bud-break? When would be the best time to repot? It is currently growing in a tall, sqare based pot.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Adam
