| I am just beginning to become intersted in Bonsai, or caring for a Bonsai Tree. Admittedly, I know nothing about it, have not begun to explore books, but am coming here to this section for my first information.
Just because of curiosity, and my "do it yourself" nature, coupled with financial reasons, I am looking at Bonsai Kits that grow from seed. See the link below for an example 1. Is this just silly, and as a first timer, I should just buy an established Bonsai tree? 2. How long (how many years???) would it take for it to actually look like the Bonsai I see in nurseries? |

| Save your money. It would be just silly if it didn't cost you money, if the kit and info. they provide were worth more than the pkg'ing and if you had a long, long time to wait before seeing anything 'bonsai'. DO go to www.bonsai4me.com, www.evergreengardenworks.com/articles and www.bonsaisite.com to start learning before spending. Your best bets will be young (3-5) yr old trees, but there's no point in even starting those until you know what to do with that tree from the day you bring it home... they're impatient with newbie learning curves :0). |
