I liked the trunk, visually interesting from most trunks. Not sure if its the species or this one in particular.

I think I like the second picture as a front to the tree.

You can pretty much bonsai anything that is a Tree or a bush, just depends on your imagination and vision.

My suggestion is as it doesn't look like it has too much foliage up top is maybe start this winter with a root reduction of 20% or less to start the project.

PS. I just recently joined, I think perhaps this forum just moves slower being Bonsai is a select few in the gardening world?

I actually pruned it fairly hard. I can do a root reduction as well. I'll post pictures of the plant as it exists after the haircut after I go out to check on things.
